"Brit with no name"

Taken on 28 May 2011

Running light engine with support coach, is 70000 "Britannia" minus nameplates. Seen here at Woodborough on her way from Southall to Bishops Lydeard on Saturday 28th May 2011.
I am led to believe that she ran like this when she was first built, back in 1951.
I don't regard this as a good photo, as one coach trains don't do a lot for me, and this is the best I cold do! Also seeing a 'Brit' painted black and with no nameplates and an awful headlight just ain't right!
Sorry to be so picky.
Vaughan.

I would have to agree on all those points. An acceptable shot all the same.

Hello Vaughan
Never mind you got a picture so still better than not one at all, I think one of the railway mags said that she ran without nameplates for a short time when she came out of the works. I hope to see her on Monday morning over here at Weston. I am trying to decide at the moment just where to go away from the horde that may be at the Station as she does stop here though it is at 07.31 perhaps there won't be anyone there?? As if?

Hi Ant,
Don't bother going out Monday for "Britannia" as she has a hot-box, and the tour to Portsmouth has been cancelled, (see "Bristol Railway Archive", and "Steam Train Timings").
Sorry!
Vaughan.

Thanks Vaughan. I can have lie in then!
