Off to Derby?

4-4-0 Midland Compound (just about my most favorite locomotive class) number 41118 is seen hauling dead Standard 4-6-0 class 5 number 73066 through Wellingborough, possibly on route to Derby for repair, as the latter is minus coupling rods. The year would have been about 1959.
Not a good quality photo, but a priceless one in my collection.
If you look at the location map, opposite my marker are three industrial buildings, well, that is where the old Wellingborough shed (15A for Ant's benefit!) used to be.
Vaughan.

Hello .Thanks For that I spend lots of time looking for the sites of old M P D's on wherethepath.com as it has modern and 1930's maps that you can bring up at the same time. I think My brother and I had a steam trip to Derby works from New St behind the midland compound 4-4-0 no 1000.
best regards Ant

Hi Vaughan

I particularly like this shot, as I never saw any Midland Compounds in BR days. I have subsequently seen 1000 in the museum at the SVR. As they say in engineering, 'if it looks right it is right'. The compounds certainly looked right.

regards Andy

Hello Ant,
Thanks for the "Comment".
That web site you mention "wherethepath.com" is well worth adding to one's Favorites, and I recommend it to all our other folk on Steam Box.
Thank, Ant,
Regards,
Vaughan.

Hi Andrew - if you look back through my earlier posts you can see a MR Compound double heading a Black Five through Lawrence Hill station in Bristol in the 1950's.
Regards from Phil H.Leura. Oz.

Hi - Ant, that website 'wherethepath.com' is great. I did have to add in an 's' - to make 'wheresthepath.com' - though. Phil H.

Hello Phil
Well I did think I had mentioned that site to you in an email, but perhaps not. Anyway it is a really good website for finding the O.S reference map and number to place your whereabouts, M.P.D's etc. So you can in fact place all the Railway works and anything pertaining to as it was in the 1930's
Regards Ant

P.S Sorry about the missed s in wheres though!
