Steam Box

ECML take 1

Taken on 17 December 2011

Another great day at York. Two steam workings, both on the "Christmas White Rose".
First pass was Collett 'Castle' 4-6-0 no.5043 "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe" in the lovely winter sun, as she heads for York.

Hi Andy,
Gosh! What beautiful light. A masterpiece!
Well done.
I was in Swindon today, running miniature (7 inch gauge) trains on our railway, and could not even get to Swindon station for "Tornado".
Bah!
Vaughan.

Great Shot Andy, really great light gives the loco's exhaust a wonderful 3D effect.
regards to all Ant

Awesome picture Andy, only spoilt by the infernal OHL's.

Thank you for all the positive comments. This was new locale for me and with lovely winter sunlight (how unusual!) it made for two great shots. The OHL's are a nuisance, but thats the ECML for you.
In case I don't post anything else this week, may wish everyone a merry Christmas and successful New Year with the camera.
Andy

Great shot Andy, for me this is the better of the two, with the exhaust lifting above the carriages nicely. I think the overhead wires are well concealed too, by the exhaust and the branches of the tree.

One question though. Did it need a 400 ISO?

Hello - Andy as they have all said, thats a great photograph, I concur. Just dream and with a little imagination and perhaps a few years patience, we might yet be able to see and photograph the return of '4079 Pendennis Castle' to the ECML.
She has been there before a long time ago! We will still have to put up with the catenaries but wouldn't that be a historocal event! Dream on Phil - It could happen.
I would like to wish you all A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Successful New Year 2012. I would also like to thank all of you for sharing your photos with me through this forum. Happy Snapping in 2012. My regards to all, Phil H. Leura. Oz.
