No 4 moves onto her train ready to make her ascent up to the Achensee, the largest alpine lake in the Austrian Tyrol. The 4.2 mile Achensee Bahn is the oldest cog railway in the world and carries travellers from the Tyrolean town of Jenbach to alpine lakeside village of Pertisau.
The noise these little engines make as they crawl up the mountain is spectacular and it is quite funny to see the guard walking along the running board of the carriages to check tickets then to jump off, run up the bank to take a picture and then jump back on. No namby pamby health and safety here.
