49395 was pulling the train north whilst facing south. I seam to have had this problem all day with engines facing the wrong direction. The driver was watching me as if to say - I am drier than you, but not a lot.

Great photo, Charlton. Shows just a little bit of how much hardship thousands of footplatemen had to endure before the end of [ 'old' ] steam! I wonder why NYMR don't make this loco a tender cab? It would be very useful in rainy North Yorks! It would also be quite historically correct, as many Super D's had a tender cab fitted during my observations in the 1950's. I saw several at Abergavenny about then. Regards Phil H. Leura. Oz.
