Life in the slow lane

Taken on 30 November 2011

A little slower than Britannia the week before, Tornado takes a leisurely stroll down the Coventry platform in the fading light pulling what seemed a packed train. Incidentally the faces of some unsuspecting commuters when Britannia came through was a sight to behold (what was that I heard one ask after the station had stopped shaking.)

Hi Banksman,
Nice photo considering the light was fading.
Did this train traverse the branch line to Coventry? I lived in Station Road, Foleshill, when I first got married in 1967, I can't remember if the branch line from Coventry to Nuneaton was still open to passenger trains then.
I have to assume you are local to the Coventry / Nuneaton area.
Regards,
Vaughan.

Hi Vaughan,
Yes the line from Nuneaton to Coventry is still open and is covered by single unit DMUSC’S ( the M should probably not be there and the SC can either stand for single carriage or Sardine can) As for the photo the fading light can sometimes add a bit of artistic content and their would probably have been a little more had I not cut off a bunch of happy snappers on the left hand side.
I actually live in Leicestershire with Nuneaton and Coventry the other side of the A5 which was like going over to the dark side when we were kids. Oops have I upset half of England .

Hello Banksman,
You wont upset me, I'm too long in the tooth for all that! I know, I came over to your side often enough!
Keep posting,
Best regards,
Vaughan.
