I must say, I was hoping to see a rolling chassis when I visited in August, but it was not to be. What is done looks to be of a first class engineering job. The funny thing about the 1973 photo is it’s my first venture back into steam after a train spotting career that ended at 15 years old (Work, Girls, Beer and Music were about to take over) We went out with the intention of walking around Bradgate Park but at the top of Old John ( it’s a hill in the middle of the park) we spied smoke over Loughborough way . Nuf said! The understatement in the title is intentional
