A Pair of Panniers

Talking of Panniers....
I got this photo at Leamington loco shed back in the late 50's. On the left in an unidentified 5700 class Pannier, and on the right is 2021 class number 2067, at the time she was being used as a stationary boiler.
Look at the face of the chap on the extreme right of the picture!
Vaughan.

Hello Vaughan.
Well perhaps he was working someone elses shift? Or The Victor Meldrew of Leamington there is an air of the disgruntled about him. By the way how many Panniers were allocated to Leamington then (just to save me looking) as it could have been perhaps one of there's?
Regards Ant

Hi Ant,
My Ian Allen Locoshed Book of 1958 only shows one Pannier tank, number 3631, shedded at Leamington (84D) at the time.
Next question!
Regards,
Vaughan.

Vaughan, in the early to mid 1950's we had several of the 2021 class pannier tamks at Bristol all shedded at 82B. They usually worked around Bristols Floating Harbour lines, these were accessed through the tunnel under St. Mary Redcliffe church or over the old Ashton swing bridge. They worked also on the miriad of sidings around Cannons Marsh between the Bristol Cathedral and the harbour. The railway to Cannons Marsh crossed the docks entrance parrallel to the Cumberland Basin swing bridge and then ran through what is now flash town houses to run alongside Hotwells Road, then Anchor Road. I don't think I was lucky enough to have captured any on film. I was probably only interested in 'Namers' then. Regards, Phil H. Oz.
