Princess Elizabeth arrives in York
I have just returned home after a very pleasant afternoon with Princess Elizabeth in York. The party was attended by a hundred or so young men (I counted 2 under the age of 60) with a variety of photography equipment. Many seemed ashamed to be seen taking photos of the lady as she pulled into platform 10. They had been sitting quietly on platform 9 minding their own business but as she arrived they all produced cameras and snapped happily away as she slowly rolled to a halt.
When she came to a halt she was mobbed by men, women and children who had probably never seen anything like her type before. Just imagine you lot out there - there are people who don't have a life like what we had being privileged to see this type of occurence almost every weekend.
This photo is one of a series of shots I got as she came into the station.

Excellent shot Calton. You say just two under 60? No that can't be right, though last time was out photographing the Great Britain tour run I was speaking to a young man of 90 whos hoping to see the new Patiot run!

The count was verified by a young pretend copper who likes to patrol the station on days like this. He says he missed out on being a train spotter when he was a kid. He still is a kid - I think that's one of the signs of growing old isn't it?
