Princess Elizabeth flies into Yorkshire
Submitted by Carlton on 9th September 2011
I chose the right platform to get this video of Princess Elizabeth as she headed the last Scarborough Flyer of the summer through Slaithwaite station this morning. Pity the poor snappers on the westbound platform as they were thwarted by a local stopper train.

Wow! that's how I remember locospotting on a small mainline station! Lots of times the train was to fast and one was to close to read the numbers! There would be no chance of reading her name! Remember there were more that one in service when I was a young lad! 13 'Prinies' for a start. The only one you could be certain of would have been the 'Turbomotive' - I never had that luck though! I think she had retired to Crewe by 1951. Phil H. Leura. Oz.
Hi Carlton
She certainly was 'flying'. Amazing how the weather had improved by the time it left Wakefield.
