Princess Elizabeth at Lambrigg

My first steam outing for 2011 saw 6201 heading north over Shap to Carlisle and back south via Settle. Seen at Lambrigg near Kendal. This location is famous for all the wrong reasons as it was the site of the Grayrigg train crash in 2007.
I did take a photo on the return leg, but the light was very poor so it did not amount to much.

Nice shot Ian. You seem to have some decent light for this photo even if the return wasn't so great. I have never managed a shot on the West Coast mainline so for. Maybe that will change this summer.
It would appear that the stock hauled by Tangmere last weekend didn't make back north as you hoped it would.
Robbie
That's a nice shot Ian - Lizzie's were always my favourite 'Big' engine on BR Regions other than 'My' local Western Region. Lizzies really looked BIG! You were skilfull in getting her framed between two of those offensive poles! A pity the coaches were not carmine red though. Was the Grayrigg crash you mention where the Pendelino [ ? ] fell off? What was the cause of that accident - Too much speed in the wrong place or what? Regards, Phil H. Leura. Oz.
I didn't pay enough attention looking at UK Steam for the times. It said West Coast next to the run so I assumed it would be West Coast stock, but later realised it was the Tyseley stock to be used.
I think 70013 had the stock you saw Robbie today on a run to Cromer and the North Norfolk Railway.
The Grayrigg train crash was caused by a points failure. There is some info about it on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grayrigg_derailment
Thanks Ian - I've looked up the reference you gave. I had heard of the crash but being so far away I'd just never seen any report on the enquiry. Phil H.
