Steam Box

On the Rio Grande?

This could well be the D.& R.G.W. in 1952, but it is in fact the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad in 2007.
I hope no-one minds, but I have tried to recreate the 50's by turning a digital colour photo into sepia.
The loco has just finished coaling-up, and is heading off to the depot (station) at Chama, New Mexico.

Hi Vaughan

A great set of USA pictures. I particularly like this one for all the atmosphere it has.

Regards Andy

Morning,Vaughan,At our local club, we had a DVD last week of this
railway,and it's pre-season snow clearing activity,
They have an awesome device which they use. coal fired, propelled by up to 3 steam locos, and essentially a huge,
(well 10 feet!)fan on the front, If anybody can get to see it then it is well worth watching ,although the novelty does wear off towards the end. I have not checked youtube ,but there might be something on there.
Bit quiet on the 'western (location not GWR!) front' as both
narrow gauges are out till half term, I'll have to go into the archives for some in the area that got missed
Regards to all Pete
Although the winter CME's are imminent as is the KLWVR gala1
