Scots Guardsman at Milton

Passing through Milton near Brampton on a very misty damp October Saturday, 46115 heads The Hadrian railtour.

I could hear the Scot coming climbing up through Cowran Cutting a mile or so distant, but it had stalled somewhere near Brampton Fell, getting going again a few minutes later. By the time it had reached here, it was working hard at a good speed, but was being helped by the diesel on the rear.
