Transfer Freight from Stoke Gifford

Taken on 1 January 1958

G'Day - Here is another shot from a visit to Filton Junction Station in the late 1950's. #6671 is coming around the curve from the Stoke Gifford marshalling yards. That is now Bristol Parkway! She's hauling a transfer freight to either St. Annes [Bristol East], Temple Way covered goods or Pylle Hill yards. My regards from a cool Aussie morning, Phil H. Leura. Oz.

Hi Phil,
Having recently been to Bristol Parkway, the scene certainly has changed a bit since your photo was taken.
Regards,
Vaughan.

Hello Vaughan - Yes things have change a lot! Stoke Gifford yards would be just out of my picture [top right] I used to visit, sit on a bank to the east end of it and look down on the action for hours. It was always busy and during the fifties was somewhere near Bristol where one could often spot Manors and Dukedogs. Then there were the Welsh expresses to watch as well. Regards from Phil H. Leura.
