Winter Gala

Taken on 28 January 2012

Robinson 'O4' no.63601 joins ex-LSWR ‘M7’ no.53 on Loughborough station for the start of what was very good gala. Something passing every 30 minutes, plus freights and the TPO.

Hi Andy, I love M7's - they remind me of summer holidays, little branch lines and sunny sandy beaches. Nice shot. Phil H.

Hi Philip
I also enjoyed seeing the M7 in steam, I had been to its home to see it, the Swanage Railway, but it was under repair in their one road shed at the time. The last time I’d seen one in steam was circa 1961, like you, on holidays. I was travelling by train over to St. Malo, on a school holiday and I was more interested in the ex-southern steam (being a Yorkshire lad) then the French holiday!
Regards Andy

Ok lads and any lasses that read this blog, look behind the M3.What about the superb canopy repairs to Loughborough station. No more leaking gutters, glass that lets light through and dagger boards that are not going to execute you when they fall off. I know it's not all finished yet but when it is we shall have a station to be really proud of and most of all to the next generation of rail enthusiasts that will oversee the missing link.
